PSYOP - BOTTLE CAP

ANNECY PREMIERE

A passion project for all of PSYOP, led by founders and directors Marie Hyon, Marco Spier, and executive producer Andrew Linsk.

I’ve known about Marie, Marco, and PSYOP for many years from coming up in NYC, where they’ve nurtured countless artists, many of whom are close friends.

The timing aligned perfectly: a few friends recommended me just as PSYOP was gearing up after receiving an EPIC MEGA GRANT.

I focused on speed and delivering lots of options, over polish. How much could we solve together in the room, right then and there, addressing challenges in real-time? Over time, I discovered that this approach accelerated ideation and led to better results and happy partners; the job really turns into being this support that assists in tons of iterations, allowing good ideas to rise quickly.

Working with Marie and Marco was a dream—lively, fun, and lots of laugh while sharing ideas and solving edits, with new tools on my end inspired largely by the legendary Bill Frake (more on him later).

There’s a unique magic that emerges when we hold space for each other, remain present, and exchange instant feedback as ideas come together.

At the end of the day, you know the jokes land, the emotional beats resonate, and you walk away with a solid chunk of your film, locked and loaded, and you’re inspired to execute it all.

…After the short’s success at Annecy, and James Cameron’s shepherding of it,

I continued as a development artist, storyboarding and illustrating keyframes for the pitch bible. Resulting in it being sold and prepped for feature production.

Huge Congrats!, this is the dream of so many writers, directors, and creatives!

Thank you to the friends who made the intro, Marco, Marie, and Andrew trusting me with their babe and PSYOP’s commitment to making kick-ass art with meaning & purpose while working to keep so many talented artists employed and fulfilled creatively.
