Something that is hard to express, is when you get swept up in a sequence, when you are really on a roll. You can enter the emotional space of the characters. When I get in the zone. I’m gritting my teeth and feeling the movement and sensations in my body. How would I frantically dodge a knife thrust to the gut? This will inform the initial gestures of the drawings which is something that’s carried over from the dynamic figure drawing classes back at SVA. Mike Mattesi has carried this mantle for many years, I had his mentor and Mike back then. I need to track down his teacher’s name*(JAMES MCMULLAN!!!)

This was my fourth film with Neil. We boarded virtually the whole film about 1000 frames. I am so extremely grateful to him I was basically a kid when I met him. (thanks again for the intro Scott Rose!) Each time, the experience leveled me up. And I am grateful that with each project he would draw me in with the offer of a great challenge and responsibility.
